Hi everyone my name’s Kelsey and my name is Becky, and we’re The Sorry Girls And we are back with a another DIY Christmas gift week video. Today we’re going to make a super zen super amazing Bath tub tray! this is something that I didn’t know I needed until I had one and it changed my life Baths are amazing. Basically this is a tray to go in a bath to hold things either for your shower Or if you’re taking baths, it holds candles books whatever you need and it’s a great gift idea yes This is something that people might not buy for themselves so that’s another reason it makes it a great gift idea Also, they can be really expensive. We checked it out online and we’re talking like upwards of 50 $100 it was wild to me that we were able to make it for so cheap and they’re charging so much online
alright Let’s get into showing you how to make this really easy really affordable amazing gift idea So we chose to make this bath tray out of cedar wood now. Cedar is great because it’s super water resistant It doesn’t get moldy or mil dewy that easily Which is perfect because it’s gonna be in your water a lot, cedar also isn’t terribly expensive If you’re only using a little bit for this DIY project so it makes it kind of affordable too, and it’s easily accessible Yes, we got it at like our local hardware store So we started with two pieces of cedar We got a 1 by 3 by 8 foot piece and a 1 by 2 by 8 foot piece On the wider 1 by 3 inch piece we measured out 30 inches Which is the width of our bathtub from the outside of the porcelain Now if you’re giving this as a gift you obviously aren’t gonna know the bathroom size unless you live in the same house as that person right but you can just pick a Random number that’s kind of like a general Bathtub size and also depending on your bathtub as long as you make it big enough. It doesn’t really matter It’s just gonna hang over a little bit but if you make it too small that’s when your trays gonna fall into the bathtub so if anything err on the side of larger we cut the 1 by 3 by 8 foot piece into 3 30 inch pieces and we did this using a handsaw which was super easy Next we measured up to nine inch pieces on our one by two piece and did that with a handsaw as well I mean you can use an electric saw if you have one But you don’t have to you don’t have to and Next we gave all our pieces a light sand even though they didn’t really need them It’s still nice to do. It’s nice to just give your nice sand. I got you It’s like giving a nice little massage like do you really need it? But like it’s nice so lay out your three larger planks horizontally and place your smaller nine-inch pieces on top vertically an equal distance in from either edge We recommend doing this five to seven inches in from the edge because you don’t want it getting in the way of the lip of Your tub once all of your planks are lined up and spaced out evenly We’re going to use a screw and drill into the middle of each of the planks to secure them We’re also making sure to use stainless steel screws for those projects because those are also super rust resistant Which makes them great in the water? And a tip is to screw your outside pieces in first And then do your middle one last so you can make sure it’s centered perfectly Once I was all done we decide to give it a quick clear coat of polycrylic finish just so that it’s nicely sealed and prevents Any water damage you guys didn’t get it. We’re trying to make this thing very waterproof I really hope you guys enjoyed this video. Yeah, it was a quick simple tutorial again It’s all gift week so we have five tutorials total that are perfect for gift giving super simple to do and pretty affordable as well!
