What’s going on Vagabuddies? Welcome back to another video. Today we are talking about our best moments from 2016, recapping the entire year with the best things. It’s been a crazy year. We’ve done a lot. So let’s just get right into it. Let’s start off with the best hotel. What’s your vote? I would say the Ice Hotel in Quebec City, just because it was such a unique experience. It was cold as ****** but totally worth it. Great idea in theory, but it’s actually really uncomfortable, and I don’t know why you’d go there for your honeymoon because good luck christening the marriage in a sleeping bag. I would put my money on the Copacabana Palace where we stayed during the Olympics. It’s a beautiful place right on the beach. What made it cool was that we were there with a VIP squad during the Olypmics and staying right next door to us was Adriana Lima. She came into our hotel room and used the telephone because she was locked out of her room, and she was wearing a bikini with a sarong. Both of us were like…..go ahead. We didn’t realize who she was until she left. On the table next to the phone was the cover of Vogue. It’s was her on there. That was a petty cool experience. Best city? I’m going to vote for Mexico City. I really enjoyed it. It’s probably the first place that I’d go back to right now. Best destination: the Basque Country. We are fans; it’s obvious. This year we got to make our big return after having started our whole career making travel videos in the Basque Country three years ago. Best nature goes to Mendoza, Argentina. The Andes above it. Exactly. We were super lucky to spend a couple days in a remote cabin, pretty much off the grid in the Andes above Mendoza, Argentina riding horses, drinking Malbec wine and eating asado. Number 5: best bars. Whoo. So hard to do. There’s a lot of bars we’ve been to this year. We’re going to chose Friends of Ham from Leeds because of not just the amazing craft beer selection, but the charcuterie and the food they paired with it. Local beers from the U.K. paired with the best of French, Spanish, Italian ham and charcuterie. It was excellent. The name says it all; if you’re a friend of ham, go to Friends of Ham. Next up: best street food. We’re going to have to say Fenix Food Factory in Rotterdam. We spent a couple nights there when we were in Rotterdam filming..great food selection, awesome ambience. It’s a reconverted, I think it was a paper storage factory that’s been turned into this giant warehouse full of twenty different street food vendors. Then you take it and sit outside with the amazing view of the Rotterdam skyline. Definitely a winner this year. Number 7: best museum. The Titanic Experience in Belfast. It tells the whole story of the Titanic, which I was not into in the beginning because I thought it was going to be cheezy like the movie. But it turned out great. Plus the museum is super interactive. It has rides, 3 D animation, full tours replicas of first class berths, second class berths, third class berths, plus lots of stories and voices of survivors. It’s a very immersive and emotional experience, but one that we highly recommend. It did win the best tourist experience of 2016 this year. Also, we’re not that original. We call it the best museum. Number 8: best Instagram photo of the year. What’s the favorite? For me, it’s the photo I took of you sitting over the old salmon fisherman’s hut in Carrick-A-Rede in Northern Ireland Best style: I think overall, a place we visited in Rotterdam called Denimism,…. Denoism. It was overall a really great example of this menswear vibe, trend that we can see all over the world, in this case specializing in Denim. Plus, they had a lot of cool motorcycles. They served us a drink of whiskey when we showed up. And a coffee. Great customer service. Most personally interesting destination or video for you? The most personally, interesting for me was the Northern England series and in particular the episode where we visit Bedenburg Castle (?????) because I dorked out this year: I binged read the Saxon Stories by Benard Cornwell (???) Getting to visit the Castle Bedenberg(??) where basically the entire story takes place, was kind of like a good moment for me. We both had read a lot about Northern England before going there. I read a lot about it in my political economy classes because it’s the birth of the Industrial Revolution. That whole series of northern England… we basically span the whole history of the U.K. in a very small area. It was kind of a nerd-out for us, but the videos were cinematic; we had some great stories. If you haven’t checked them out, you should. We had some funny skits, too. Very funny. Tough question, so we’re going to pick two. Best restaurants of 2016. First choice: La Bouche, Quebec City. It’s an urban sugar shack. Everything is covered in maple syrup and bacon. It was just a sweet, decadent feast in the cold winter, and it was one of the best meals of 2016. Another one is Mina in Bilbao. It’s a Michelin Star restaurant so it’s a different end of the spectrum. It is so good. It was the best overall dining experience. I think we ordered a twelve course tasting menu. They brought us about twenty dishes. We sat at the bar; we got royal treatment. Best example of Basque cooking and amazing. Next up. Best distillery. Lately, we’ve been on a bit of a mescal kick The best distillery for us is: Corazon de Maguey in (????), a neighborhood in Mexico City. Tons of artizinal(???) mescals. If you want an introduction into all of the diversity there is within mescal, it’s a great place to start. Best souvenir: I’m going to choose seaweed baths, take away seaweed baths from Voya in Ireland. We’ve taken one of the best experiences we’ve had on a trip and bringing it home. It just makes the most amazing personalized spa experience at home. Best festival: the Viking Festival in York. There’s a battle between Saxons and Vikings, so how can you really go wrong? Look! An unsuspecting village. Attack! Scariest moment of the year? Definitely Louie’s van catching on fire in Big Sur. Quick, quick, quick Oh my gosh..Oh my gosh. That could literally the whole van. We could have lost the whole van just then. So that was scary. That was really scary. Most ridiculous moment: It would have to be wearing speedos and riding a hot tub around the canals of Rotterdam. Wood-fired hot tub electric boat. The hot tug. When I first heard it, I thought it was a hand job in a sauna. Yeah. We haven’t convinced anyone to join us. People are looking at it, pointing and laughing, which I remember feeling in middle school. Funniest moment: Definitely your getting shit on by that sheep in the Basque Country. That made my year. Oh ,f*** it just ship on my hand. It did too. FYI That milk was not used to make cheese. It was just for demonstration purposes. Your cheese would not have poop in it. Best skit: going to have to choose Vitoria in Basque Country Most memorable moment of 2016: I’d have to say…moving into this house. I cannot tell you how good it felt to finally put down some roots and be living in a neighborhood that we’d always admired and wanted to live in. We’re going to do a house tour later, so stay tuned for that. The best overall day of the year: Hard to pick. Roma Norte in Mexico City with the Mexico City squad we had. Alan por el mundo showing us around. We were down there with Rawvana. We were there with Fernanda and Rodrigo, and it was just a super, awesome day exploring a really vibrant, cool neighborhood, and doing it with a great group of friends. We really want to do more content in Spanish, and we’ve reached out to other Youtubers in Mexico City. It was really cool to go thete and see a whole other hub of Youtube that’s kind of operating parrelle to what we’re doing here in LA. All right guys. We’ve shared our favorite moments from 2016.
